German Shorthaired Pointer Application
Known for its agility, power, and endurance, the German Shorthaired Pointer is an all-purpose close-working dog. He has a square or slightly longer frame than he is tall; despite his short back, he stands over a good deal of ground. His head should be clean-cut, his outline should be graceful, his quarters should be strong, and his physique should be athletic. He has a short, tough coat.
An enthusiastic gundog of all trades, the German Shorthaired Pointer thrives on vigorous exercise, positive training, and lots of love. German Shorthaired Pointers are aristocratic companions that stand between 23 and 25 inches at the shoulder and have a weight range of 55 to 70 pounds; females are smaller. Its coat consists of a solid liver color (a reddish brown), or of liver and white patterns with distinctive markings. There is a sense of enthusiasm and friendliness in the dark eyes. GSPs are known for their power, speed, agility, and endurance in the field or on the lake. Aristocratic and noble are words commonly used to describe the overall appearance. A GSP is a happy, trainable pet that bonds strongly with its owners. Any physical activity that burns off some of their boundless energy while spending time outdoors with a human buddy will always appeal to them, such as running, swimming, or organized dog sports.
